This webinar will assist companies in all industry sectors to understand basic enforcement principles of OSHA and MSHA at multi-employer worksites.

Why Should You Attend:

In the past year, key decisions have been issued affecting management of contractor activities at US worksites and altering decades of legal precedent. The OSHRC decision in Summit Construction reduced general contractor liability for the violations of their "subs," yet there are many misconceptions about what the court actually ordered and how it affect liability exposure. On the other hand, in the mining sector, a 2006 Court of Appeals decision has actually increased a company’s responsibilities for contractor activities and equipment in terms of safety factors. This webinar will explore the complex area of contractor safety and liability issues and offer proactive solutions to improve management programs while reducing liability exposure.

Areas Covered in the seminar:

  • Discussion of key federal case law decisions involving OSHA/MSHA enforcement for contractor safety and health violations.
  • Review of basic concepts distinguishing contractors from employees.
  • Worker’s compensation, statutory employer laws and tort liability issues.
  • Issues surrounding training and supervision of non-employees.
