Infection Control Commissioning for Health Care Construction Projects
This webinar will provide valuable assistance to all healthcare organizations and institutions; architecture and construction management companies; infection control practitioners and industrial hygienists; joint commission verifiers and reviewers, and construction companies engaged in healthcare construction projects.
Description
This webinar will provide valuable assistance to all healthcare organizations and institutions.
Healthcare construction activities are recognized worldwide as a patient risk factor for hospital-acquired infections. Risks during construction are managed by the ICRA (Infection Control Risk Assessment) process recommended by the Association of Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology and the American Institute of Architects. The more difficult question arises when the project is completed: is the building clean and the building systems operating as designed? Health care facility systems are typically "commissioned" from an engineering standpoint, but infection control perspectives are overlooked.
Areas Covered in the seminar:
- Building HVAC system fundamentals (air filtration, air exchanges, and pressure relationships).
- Epidemiology of aspergillosis and ecology of Aspergillus mold species.
- Infection control commissioning principles and practices (visual inspection, building and room pressure relationships, particle counting, and air sampling).
- Air sampling techniques and their limitations: Culturable (impactor, culture plate, and filter methods) and non-culturable fungal sampling (spore counting and polyermase chain reaction methods); and the importance of low reporting limits.
- Recommended infection control commissioning acceptance criteria for dust, pressure relationships, particle counting and air sampling.
Who Will Benefit:
This webinar will provide valuable assistance to all healthcare organizations and institutions; architecture and construction management companies; infection control practitioners and industrial hygienists; joint commission verifiers and reviewers, and construction companies engaged in healthcare construction projects. Professionals who will benefit include:
- Infection Control Practitioners
- Construction project managers and designers
- Architects
- Department of Health Construction Reviewers
- Industrial Hygienists
- Third party verifiers
- Healthcare institution Facility
