Description

The course module will describe a common set of criteria for disaster/emergency management and business continuity programs. The module will discuss in general terms the material to be presented in further detail throughout the course concerning program assessment criteria, development, implementation and maintenance for prevention, mitigation, preparation, response, and recovery to emergencies businesses are likely to encounter in California.

Instructor Profile:
Bill Greulich, has worked for the past twenty years in engineering, safety and emergency management for both private and public sector organizations. He is a graduate of Northeastern University, Boston, MA with a BS in Mechanical Engineering and has a certificate in Hazardous Materials Management from the University of California, Berkeley. He is a member of the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE), Professional Risk Managers International Association (PRMIA), Society of Risk Analysis (SRA), and the Research Security Administrators (RSA).

Bill began his professional career in a defense industry material science laboratory. In this role he performed Department of Defense (DoD) witnessed testing to military specifications and supervised maintenance of chemical processing equipment.

Bill then joined the H. C. Starck industrial chemicals division of Bayer Corporation where he developed and implemented safe equipment and processes to produce conventional niobium-titanium superconductors and other specialty refractory electronic materials. He joined the Berkeley Bayer Biotechnology division in 1995 where he focused on safety engineering. After a 15 year career he left Bayer as Manager of Environment Health Safety and Security (EHS&S).

Bill then joined the City of Berkeley, California as Manager of the Office of Emergency. Services, a division of the Berkeley Fire Department. There he was responsible for emergency program development and project implementation for this globally recognized City of more than 100,000 people. He also briefly managed the City’s Fire Prevention Division acting in the role of Fire Marshal.

In 2005, he started his own firm, Kensington Consulting. As principal consultant Bill now focuses on providing technically sound life and property protection expertise to his clients. His projects range from emergency exercise design and implementation for large organizations through detailed California Fire and Building Code opinions for sophisticated manufacturing operations.
