This webinar will discuss best practices for importing data into Excel from external sources, creating relationships in Power Pivot, DAX formulas in Power Pivot, Power Query data sources, and more.

Why Should You Attend:

Do you work with "Big Data"? Do you import, manipulate and analyze massive datasets in Excel? If so you’ll already be familiar with the limitations of Excel.

Power Pivot and Power Query, two free add ins for Excel, are designed to get you past these limitations, allowing you to import and work with 1-million-plus-row datasets from virtually any source. If you work with, analyze and generate reports from large datasets, having a good understanding and working knowledge of Power Query and Power Pivot is a must.

Areas Covered in the Webinar:

  • Importing data into Excel from external sources
  • Creating pivot tables from multiple sources
  • Creating relationships and data models
  • Introduction to DAX formulas
  • Cleaning and transforming data using Power Query
  • Combining data from multiple tables

Who Will Benefit:

This event is aimed at users of Excel (2010, 2013 and 2016 for Windows) who wish to learn about Power Pivot and Power Query. Attendees should have at least intermediate knowledge of Excel and be familiar with formulas and creating Pivot Tables.

Topic Background:

If you ever need to create pivot tables from multiple datasets, Power Pivot is your friend. No more vlookup. No more multiple consolidation ranges. If you’ve been frustrated by other limitations of pivot tables then Power Pivot is for you. Simply put, Power Pivot takes pivot tables and data analysis to the next level. If you’re a fan of pivot tables, you’ll love Power Pivot.

Power Query can save you a ton of time when working with imported data. In many cases when you get data from external sources, it needs work on it before it can be used. Although this can be done using Excel functionality, Power Query is a lot faster, can handle much more data, and is repeatable with a couple of clicks.

Important Note: Power Pivot and Power Query are only available for Excel 2010, Excel 2013 and 2016 for Windows in Office Professional Plus, Office 365 Professional Plus or the standalone editions of Excel 2013 & 2016.
