This webinar on Safety Manuals will provide attendees with extensive concepts and ideas on how to construct a safety manual and include safety policies that will be effective for their work culture.

Why Should You Attend:

The penalties for offences under health and safety legislation can be significant.

Safety manuals are a required element in all workplaces. Writing a safety manual can be a daunting task. Often purchasing a manual “off the shelf” is not the right way to go for your business. So, you end up having to write or rewrite an existing safety manual to assure that it is both up to date and inclusive of the needs of your business.

This webinar will assist you in understanding the information you need to assemble to prepare a safety manual for your workplace. It will also help you understand how to balance regulatory needs with the needs of your workplace. At the end of this training you will have the knowledge needed to produce a comprehensive health and safety manual for your workplace.

Areas Covered in the Seminar:

This seminar will cover some important things that you need to know when writing a safety manual, including the following:

  • Conducting a basic health and safety survey in your workplace.
  • Conducting a job hazard analysis.
  • Documents that must be reviewed.
  • What policies must be included in your safety manual.
  • Ideas of how to set up your manual.
  • Common regulatory infractions.

Topic Background:

More and more industries are required to have safety manuals. A few short years ago, safety manuals were part of the requirements for only manufacturing and heavy industry. Today, as regulatory agencies extend their reach, a wide variety of industries, such as healthcare, supermarkets and other service sectors must have an effective, up to date and relevant safety manual. While safety manuals can be purchased from various sources, unless you know what elements are needed to make a safety manual meaningful and effective, such purchases can give a false sense of well being and leave your business open to regulatory inspections and fines.

Learning what goes in to putting together an effective safety manual, whether you write it yourself or edit one that you buy can save you from regulatory infractions and fines in the long run.
