I am a healthcare recruiter who routinely makes sales calls on physician offices, hospitals and other healthcare providers. That is part of my job requirement. I ws challenged by my boss on a sales call that I documented which happens to be my current physician's office. My boss told me that she did a "Quality Call" on some of the sales calls that I documented in our database and when she called that particulare physician's office, she was told by an employee (which she identified by name) that I was a patient at that physician office currently under the Dr.'s care. Were my HIPAA rights violated by this employee? I did actualyy meet with and make a sales presentation to the physician.
