Carlo Chalhoub

Dr. Carlo Chalhoub is a financial consultant and educator with more than fifteen years’ experience in the banking and finance industry. Beginning as a loan manager, he rose through the ranks of the banking world while building a reputation as a hardworking and charismatic innovator. He spent two years as a relationship manager for ABN AMRO Bank in Dubai, where he quickly achieved the rank of Senior Financial Advisor with responsibility for the GCC markets.
In 2008 he left the finance industry to pursue a Doctorate of Philosophy in Political Science and Economics, with dual emphases in International Money and Finance and International Political Economy. By exiting the industry to pursue further academic training, he has managed to stay on the forefront of new fiscal and monetary theories, and has expanded an impressive breadth of experience to cover business, finance, and banking, but also the associated fields of fiscal policy and monetary theory.
As a lecturer and seminar speaker, Dr. Chalhoub has taught subjects ranging from compliance, anti-money laundering and risk management to Islamic banking and wealth management. He has a reputation for lively discussions and exceptional attention to detail, and he is known throughout the industry for the positive feedback his seminars garner. He is certified by the International Academy of Business and Financial Management in the fields of Anti-Money Laundering, Compliance, Islamic Banking, Risk Management, and Wealth Management, and has more than ten years’ experience teaching and training.
Dr. Chalhoub has presented papers on monetary unions and the Gulf Cooperation Council with an eye to the potential political fallout and fiscal benefits therein. His analysis has been well received among academics, and he is a frequent contributor to the Claremont Graduate University IMF Working Group. He continues to research corruption and perverse incentives in the financial industry, and is a member of Compliance Online and other webinar-based compliance training organizations. Dr. Chalhoub has spent the last three years educating and training high-ranking officials, heads of state, and bankers in United States, The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, Zimbabwe, Zambia, South Africa, Singapore, Seychelles, Hong Kong China, and France.
Dr. Chalhoub recently completed research on compliance and risk management in African banking institutions, and is presenting his findings at conferences and universities around the world. This advanced specialization in the financial compliance field in Africa made him a permanent member of the advisory steering committee at the African Customer Due Diligence Repository.
Dr. Chalhoub founded Chalhoub Consultancy, LLC in 2011 and acts as both Head Trainer and CEO of the firm, overseeing operations at large while continuing to indulge in his passion for academic advancement and travel. He continues to push into new frontiers, and is currently developing new training programs for IABFM.
In July 2016 Dr.Chalhoub became the CEO of IABFM Africa, expanding the firm networking abilities and offering the ultimate service coverage for the African market. This joint venture between Chalhoub Consultancy and IABFM Africa aims at shifting the Human Assets formation and educational programs services to the consultancy level where the service providing firm becomes the HR consultant to the customer enabling a wider professional approach on how to fill the employees needs in a global enterprise modeling platform that caters not only for training but also for restructuring and solutions implementations.
