Dr. Christopher Verbicky
Managing Director and founder of CurVe Consultants, LLC

Dr. Christopher Verbicky is the Managing Director and founder of CurVe Consultants, LLC. Dr. Verbicky holds a PhD in synthetic organic chemistry from the University of New Hampshire and an MBA from the University at Albany and has nearly 20 years of experience working in the high-intensity contract services industry from chemical and process development through manufacture of fine chemicals, active pharmaceutical ingredients, and finished dosage forms.

He began his career in chemistry focusing on lab-scale development before moving to management roles in project and product management, business development, and executive leadership. Dr. Verbicky has managed and advised on projects from the discovery of new chemical entities and salt forms for use as active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), fine chemicals, and pharmaceutical finished products focused on product and process development leading to manufacturing. Throughout his career in the various roles he has filled, Dr. Verbicky has contributed or advised on hundreds of development products and programs.

He is passionate about manufacturing efficiency and improving patient access to quality pharmaceutical products, whether innovative or generic. Dr. Verbicky elected to start CurVe Consultants to satisfy his passion for helping others by applying his background and experience to solve their problems and achieve their goals.

He is a member of the Project Management Institute (PMI), Parenteral Drug Association (PDA), American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS), and American Chemical Society (ACS) and other scientific and professional associations.

Topic Background:

The principals of Project Management are applied to modern alliance management of outsourced projects. The use of contract development and manufacturing organizations (CDMOs) is required as small pharmaceutical and biotech companies are relied upon more and more for innovation in the pharmaceutical industry. The building of in-house resources to accomplish development and manufacturing activities required to create tomorrow's treatments is growing increasingly rare, which further drives the use of CDMOs. This evolution has fueled the growth of the CDMO industry for the past few decades and managing outsourced projects represents a source of new challenges for project managers and those responsible for accomplishing outsourced activities. The field of Project Management has grown in parallel with the CDMO industry and continues to evolve to meet new challenges. We will review tools to help project managers select and manage their outsourcing service providers and communicate project performance to leadership.
