COVID-19 has been a fast-growing, communicable and deadly disease that became a world-wide pandemic. With this disease attacking the US population it changed our lives, and even more specifically, hospital operations. As hospital operations changed, our hospital case management roles and processes changed, as well. As this deadly virus seems to be leveling off, there will be a time that we return to normal. However, our "old" normal will probably not be our "new" normal.

Why Should You Attend:

This webinar will address the current status of COVID-19 and how it has transitioned and changed hospitals, whether they were surge hospitals or not. The impact of COVID-19 has definitely impacted our acute care case management operations. How will we transition to this “new” normal? And what will the new normal look like?

This webinar will focus on transition phases for both case management staff—RN case managers and social work case managers—and case management leadership. It will also address the role of the physician advisor in this transition.

An awareness of waivers or changes in rules and regulations by national, state, and local governments, as well as our payers will be critical as the transition occurs. Staff who have been emotionally impacted by this deadly disease will need support. This is a big ask for case management department leadership.

Lastly, an evaluation must occur. Changes that were made might be appropriate to continue. But, likewise, changes that were made may need to be removed or modified. This webinar will assist case management departments in understanding their focus areas for the next steps to “new” normal.

Areas Covered in the Webinar:

  • COVID-19 where we began
  • COVID-19 where we are today
  • COVID-19 the next steps
  • Transition for hospitals: Surge hospitals and hospitals without surge
  • Case management roles in the transitions
  • A SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats) analysis of COVID-19 operations: The department and key stakeholders
  • The plan for the “new” normal: Evaluation of COVID-19 operations on acute care case management
