Read Frequently Asked Questions

Why Should You Attend:

Ethical dilemmas are not the clearly easy right-versus-wrong decisions, but instead are right-versus-right decisions where we must balance two or more competing rights. How to balance human values and organizational values while making company ethical decisions?

Depending on how an individual perceives and places value on those rights determines which decision he/she will make. Since individuals vary in their values and beliefs, these decisions are often questioned after the fact - leading individuals and organizations to question the “ethics” of those making the decision.

This webinar will provide attendees with the basic knowledge necessary to help them understand ethical decision making models and how they can use them, in conjunction with universal and organizational values, to create models their employees can use daily.

Areas Covered in the Webinar:

  • An overview of ethical concepts
  • Understanding the ethical context of your organization
  • Universal human values
  • Organizational values
  • Why ethics matter in organizations
  • Practical models for ethical decision making

Who will Benefit:

This webinar will be valuable to anyone who wants to learn to make best ethical decisions and the following personnel in an organization will benefit the most:

  • Internal auditors
  • External auditors
  • Compliance professionals
  • Ethics professionals
  • Audit Committee members

Mr. Mefford is currently the President of Mefford Associates, a professional training, coaching and boutique advisory firm. He has been the chief audit executive at two different multi-billion dollar manufacturing companies. He is also a Fellow with the Open Compliance and Ethics Group (OCEG) a non-profit think tank that uniquely helps organizations drive Principled Performance by enhancing corporate culture and integrating governance, risk management, and compliance processes.

Topic Background:

Individuals and organizations espouse the benefits of being ethical, but what does it really mean to be ethical? If we are to be ethical, whose values or moral barometer do we use when making decisions? There are some universal human values, but also organizational values. How are we to balance these and make the best decisions?

Organizations that expect their employees to make ethical decisions have an obligation to inform their employees what the organization deems as “ethical” and provide tools that enable employees to rationally make decisions when faced with ethical dilemmas in the workplace.

Ethics are an important part of any organization, but we often talk about them in over-arching terms and concepts without providing employees practical ways of making ethical decisions. Organizations cannot anticipate every ethical dilemma their employees may encounter, and therefore must provide employees with tool they can use. This seminar is designed to give everyone a basic understanding of ethical concepts, how they relate to universal and organizational values, and how to use them in making ethical decisions.
