The Annual Wellness Visit is covered by Medicare annually with no cost to the Medicare beneficiary. Providers are encouraged to perform this service for Medicare patients, but often do not document the required elements in order to bill for the service accurately. Without adequate documentation, Medicare will recoup payment when they audit medical records. If you want to keep your money in your pocket, you need to know how to document these visits correctly.
