Mr. Aust is the President and Owner of 1030 Communications, LLC; an occupational safety environmental training and consulting firm based in Amboy, Indiana. Mr. Aust has a Master of Science in Occupational Safety, Health and Environmental Management and is a Certified Environmental Compliance Manager #5678. Mr. Aust also served as the management representative for various safety and environmental management systems throughout his career. He is an Authorized OSHA Outreach Instructor for both General Industry and Construction Industry and is a published author and content contributor for various safety and environmental blogs.

Michael has provided safety and environmental management expertise and regulatory compliance to a variety of industries since 1995. His extensive experience in the safety, environmental and health field has been earned from working in a variety of different types of organizations within the private sector. The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry is a science and technology museum in Portland, Oregon. It contains three auditoriums, including a large-screen theatre, planetarium, and exhibition halls with a variety of hands-on permanent exhibits focused on natural sciences, industry, and technology. Transient exhibits span a wider range of disciplines.Computer-aided astronomy and laser light shows are performed daily in the Harry C. Kendall Planetarium. The museum's popular exhibits and attractions include the USS Blueback submarine, the Featured Exhibit Hall used for temporary exhibits, Turbine Hall that features exhibits about engineering, physics, chemistry, and space travel, the Life Sciences Hall, and the Earth Science Hall.

Washington Park is a public urban park in Portland. It includes a zoo, forestry museum, arboretum, children's museum, rose garden, Japanese garden, amphitheatre, memorials, archery range, tennis courts, soccer field, picnic areas, playgrounds, public art and many acres of wild forest with miles of trails. Washington Park covers more than 410 acres on mostly steep, wooded hillsides which range in elevation from 200 feet at 24th & W Burnside to 870 feet at SW Fairview Blvd. The park has over 15 miles of trails, some of which are part of the 40-Mile Loop connecting Washington Park with Pittock Mansion and Forest Park to the north and Council Crest to the south. The Oregon Zoo, part of the park, is home to more than 2,000 animals of more than 250 species (including 21 endangered species) in natural or semi-natural habitats.

The Pittock Mansion is a French Renaissance-style château in the West Hills of Portland. The mansion was originally built in 1909 as a private home for London-born Oregonian publisher Henry Pittock and his wife, Georgiana. It is a 46-room estate built of Tenino Sandstone situated on 46 acres that is now owned by the city's Bureau of Parks and Recreation and open for touring. Modeled after Victorian and French Renaissance architecture, the forty-six room house is situated on an expanse in the West Hills that provides panoramic views of Downtown Portland. The Wildwood Trail through Forest Park also crosses the mansions parking area, allowing hikers to arrive at Pittock Mansion on foot.

Governor Tom McCall Waterfront Park is a 36.59-acre park located in downtown Portland, along the Willamette River. After the 1974 removal of Harbor Drive (a good example of freeway removal), the park was opened to the public in 1978. The park was renamed in 1984 to honor Tom McCall, the Oregon governor who pledged his support for the beautification of the west bank of the Willamette River—harkening back to the City Beautiful plans at the turn of the century that envisioned parks and greenways along the river. The park is bordered by RiverPlace to the south, the Steel Bridge to the north, Naito Parkway to the west, and Willamette River to the east. In October 2012, Waterfront Park was voted one of America's ten greatest public spaces by the American Planning Association.

The World Forestry Center is a nonprofit educational institution in Portland. Located near the Oregon Zoo in Washington Park, the organization was established in 1964, with roots as far back as 1905. The World Forestry Center's mission is to "educate and inform people about the world's forests and trees, and their importance to all life, in order to promote a balanced and sustainable future." The center achieves its mission with three programs: the Discovery Museum, two donated working forests—the Magness Memorial Tree Farm and the Johnson-Swanson Tree Farm, the World Forest Institute which was established in 1989, and the primary program - the International Fellowship Program.
